Errors and Omissions

Dear NSBAR Members:

In the May 2006 newsletter, NSBAR ran the column "It's the Rule". In it, near the end, there is (as several of you pointed out to us) a mistake. It reads: "... you have an agreement in writing outlining the responsibilities of the person seeking the funds and your responsibility. Just an idea. Remember, if you do put together such a form it should be discussed and developed through your company and should consult with other companies." Of course, the mistake here was that a word was omitted. The line should read "... and should NOT consult with other companies". On issues such as this you are never allowed to consult with other companies when developing office fees, company policies, etc. We regret the error but are proud of the many who found the mistake and contacted us -- congratulations for being so well educated in Antitrust issues! We will also make note of the error in the June newsletter.

Sincerely,

Terry Penza, RCE, CAE

Government Affairs
Special Service Areas (SSAs) are becoming more prevalent in Illinois. SSAs are special taxing districts in municipalities that are established by ordinance, often at the request of developers of new housing subdivisions, in order to pass on the costs of the streets, landscaping, water lines, and sewer systems to homeowners who reside within the SSA.

For those who still use PC Access™ and RE/Explorer™, you’ll be happy to know that they’ll probably be around for a while longer. The Board voted to renew our contract with FNIS, the developers of these products, for at least one more year.
