RE: Real Estate Transfer Stamps

Dear Ms Terry Penza,
The Village of Lincolnshire has experienced a number of real estate transactions where Village of Lincolnshire transfer stamps were not purchased. Whether by ignorance, miscommunication or confusion Real Estate Transfer stamps were not included in with the overall real estate transaction.

As a result, I am now placed in the unenviable position of having to inform the new homeowner that they still owe the Village additional taxes. Unfortunately, this lapse in process diminishes our efforts.

With your permission I would like your Board to alert all the real estate agents who transact business in this region of South Lake County that they need to determine if the property is located in the Lincolnshire corporate limits. A point of major confusion may be the fact that a section of Lincolnshire not only has street names similar to those of the City of Lake Forest, but also still retains the original Lake Forest postal zip code number.
